Winter Newsletter I

We sincerely hope that everyone had a great 2007 pool season and are now enjoying their off-season pursuits!  All of us in the office have been working hard gearing up for the 2008 pool season.  After our successful Leadership Luncheon and closing all the extended season pools in September,  each department has been working diligently on improving what we can offer  in 2008 for each lifeguard, client and pool patron!

In addition to program improvements we are still managing several indoor pools in the DC-metropolitan area. We are operating indoor pools in Baltimore, Prince Georges County and Loudoun County  If you are interested in working at one of our indoor facilities please contact our office (301-231-8999) or apply online: www.centurypool.com.

Leadership Century Luncheon and Scholarship Winner                
Our Leadership Luncheon was a great success this year. It was held at the Newton White Mansion in Maryland and we had an overwhelming turnout. Thanks to everyone who attended. All Leadership members did an amazing job this summer keeping our pools exceptionally clean and safe. Good job everyone!

A big Congratulations goes to Stephanie Wishmyer of Hampton Oaks Pool in Stafford, Virginia who was this year’s recipient of a Leadership Scholarship.  Stephanie was chosen from a group of inspirational essays written by both international and domestic lifeguards vying for a $1,000 school scholarship.  Well done, Stephanie! 

We look forward to continuing this program next season and can’t wait to see who will be inducted and what they will have to say about lifeguarding in future essays!

PazzoWith great sorrow we announce the passing of Plamen Dechev on November 30th, 2007.

Plamen (Pazzo) was a member of Century's Team since 2002 when he
started as a lifeguard. His dedication and professionalism were noticed and he was asked to join the service team in the spring of 2003. Continuing his admirable work ethic he went on to become a Supervisor (Area Manager), Crew Leader/Service Tech and Assistant Division Manager.  Finally during the summer of 2007 he became the Regional Service Manager for Divisions 4 and 5 and the go to person for

service related inquiries for other divisions as well.

Pazzo also made a lot of friends in the U.S.  In addition to his professional dedication he had a wonderful personality too.  He liked to cook and take care of his friends. He was the life of every party.  Pazzo also loved a challenge; there was almost no sport that he would not play.

It is very hard to lose a friend, especially one that was like a brother.  Pazzo will be remembered forever in our hearts with love and respect.

All J1 Students have the Opportunity to earn up to $500!!

Early bird bonus: $250 if arrive fully certified by May 25th or arrive uncertified by May 18th and stay until September 3rd.

End bonus:    $250 based on job performance, apartment inspection, and must stay until September 3rd.

WINTER NEWSLETTER II

Contained in this newsletter is information on our upcoming training dates, new uniforms for the 2008 season, and other news about which pools we will be managing this summer.  As always contact our office at any time for further information.

2008 POOLS
Although re-hire packets have gone out, we are not able to officially release all of the pools we will be managing this coming summer.  Pool contracts can be quite complicated and there are always a lot of specific details that our HOAs, pool boards’ and other clientele must work out before a mutually acceptable pool contract is signed and made active and before we can offer positions for that facility.  Regardless of a pool’s contract status we STRONGLY encourage you to apply as soon as possible to ensure your first choice or preference can be made possible.

Every effort is made to keep every applicant, employee and re-hire in the loop as to where and what we are managing.  Don’t feel left out, when we know, you will know!

Uniforms
As we received many comments about some uniform issues that occurred last summer, we have taken the past few months to update materials and other unfavorable aspects of last year’s uniform.  Size was a main concern for everyone last year so we have worked closely with our vendor to create a roomier and more comfortable suit for all.  In addition to the fit, we have changed the materials to more sturdy and fade resistant fabrics.  We did keep the same style for both men and women: women will have a two-piece thin strap racer-back bikini and men the same almost knee-length swim trunks with a slightly more roomy fit.

This year we will again be using the online ordering system so every employee can order their uniform as soon as they wish upon returning a signed offer letter to our corporate office.  The cost for the uniform package (t-shirt, visor, whistle, lanyard and suit) is still $50 (plus the cost of shipping).  Once the majority of our employees have received their uniform packages for the season we will have suits and other items from this and previous years available for purchase so you can have extra t-shirts or a different style suit to change up your work week this summer! 

Training
Also enclosed is our 2008 Training Schedule.  Once again, all Leadership Century members receive FREE REFRESHER TRAINING and many employees are eligible to receive FREE training if they train prior to May 1st 2008.
